My '48 Fleet arrived from Seattle last night....wooohooooo!

The car would barely start when I tested it out in Seattle...heck, I'll just put a new battery in it.

So I put the new battery in today, and SAME THING! I guess I'll change the battery cables to ensure I'm getting full current to the starter and ground, but wow, so much to figure out now.

I've got other issues to post in other threads now. Trust me, I'm searching the forums with keywords to find previously covered topics, but I'm not finding what I need in some cases.

Thanks guys!

Cables is probably the number one cause of slow cranking 6 volt systems. Buy some nice thick 00 gauge positives and make sure the connections are clean. And figure out how to post pictures! Agrin We love pictures!

Those accustomed to the finest...find it in Chevrolet.

Congrats on the new member of the Chevy family. Hope the weather is good enough out there to take a victory lap with the car!

Bruce hit the nail on the head with the proper wire gauge. That should get you what you need with regard to cranking power. We can't wait to hear more about your Fleetline and if you need anything just shout!

Cheers,

Thanks guys. Picture links definitely coming soon (but be warned, it's bright tomato red, when the factory actually delivered it in black). Just got to get a photobucket account started.

Not to worry. If it is about the '48, just ask here. The search thing does not always work.

Indeed, thanks. Victory lap complete! oiled up the dry tranny and byebye goes the noise :o)

Many more bugs to work out still, I think I'll start with a valve adjustment and try to dial in the ignition system for starters now.

Cheers!
