I would guess the belts with the inter rubber teeth is not correct for a 48.If this is true how would it effect judging??

They are not correct. How would they affect judging? First it depends if the judge knows the difference or if it is even noticed. Could cost about 2 points. I believe NAPA sells a nice original looking belt.

I probably wouldn't go there...You can get the belts without the teeth...Might have to look around...After I got my car running again the first thing that happened was the old belt flew apart...Caught a little rubber in the face...lol Another reason to wear safety glasses while working on your car...I always wear them...Keeps falling dirt out of your eyes while working under the car...Can't recall the belt width...It's a fat one...I may have to have ordered it...Car parts stores will do it...Takes about a day for it to show up from one of their other stores, if it's not in stock...

CC, I have a belt that I can't identify but it looks like the right size for 41-48, etc. Group Number 1.066 Part Number 609279 It is in a mid-belt sleeve (about 3-4 inches) with the GM logo and shows a harmonic balancer pulley, generator pulley and fan. Blades on fan looks like a 41-48. It is NOS and for something GM. The belt is old and is solid without any grooves. Maybe someone can ID it and tell if it will fit a 48 or not. If you determine it will fit then you can have it. I'm thinking it may be for a Pontiac, though. Thats because I can't ID it in any of my Chevrolet parts books. Best, Charlie BTW: Embossed on the outside of the belt is the following: 1-7 GM * (thats a star) 609279 VX-77 s-2640 GS

Come to think it...I did have to bring the old belt with me to the store to get the proper match...I believe the size was still written on it...

When you finally aquire the proper belt for your Chevy, save the cardboard sleeve it comes with. Write what it fits on the sleeve and you wont have to hunt one in the future.

Good idea...I'm sure I also saved mine, too. I'd get it out of the trunk and look at it for the size, but the car is not here...Big help I am...
