I'm curious to know who owns or how many 1941 Chevrolets are in the club.

Might be interesting to have a list of members with 1941's chevrolets. If you send me, or post your info, I'll develop a list.

I have a 1941, Special Deluxe Coupe, Admiral Green.

Thanks & Happy Motoring, :)

The number of LISTED 1941s could be constructed from the recent roster.

Recent roster ?? haven't seen one of those Ray...Where did you get it/see it ??

But it may be fun to have a listing, you know, sort of up to date. I know some Regions car listings are not up to date.

VCCA puts out a roster of members every 5 years around the time of the Anniversary Meet. It contains an address and list of cars each member has (several members fail to list their cars for obvious reasons).

I think you could purchase a current roster from the editor.

In fact the new Directory has a page with the number listed by each year. Some members don't want all their cars listed.

That is why it is so difficult to compile a list of cars. On the other hand it would be very easy to compile a list of 1923 air cooled cars or a list of 1917-19 dual 4s.

The listing of 486, 1941's, is conservative. The 1941 is an extremely popular car. It has markings of an antique car, while at the same time providing adequate highway speeds to be driven on long trips with considerable reliability. In fact, I did a recent 1500 mile tour in my car.

Ray, thanks for your imput. The loist of comming along fine and so far I am up to 246 41's. And it seems every week I get another few responses, so it is growing...

You mentioned, "It is so difficult to compile a list of that car." And you may be right, but I'm curious, what's the hard part ??

Many owners of 1941 cars/trucks do not have Internet services and would not be aware someone is making a list. Even if you advertised in the G&D you would not get the word to the many owners that do not belong to the VCCA.

Many owners do not want information collected and published that lists all of their collector cars for obvious reasons.

Another factor is that ownership of collector vehicles change frequently.

I don't want to discourage you for your effort, however you need to know some of the problems from an owner who "Has been there and done that".

Good luck with your project. (Are you aware that I own a 1941?)

Ray, Thanks for the info, But with all respect, you can't discourage me.

I should tell you I have an "gene" in me that does not allow me to be discouraged, by any one. Ever. But thanks for the warning.

As I often say, "There is no one that can find as many reasons for NOT do something as I can. So any one who tries is always second place."

Heck if I allowed that philosophy to take hold in my life I would have never have achieved what I wanted. And as my Grand Mother told me many times; "If you wanna eat, plow. And don't listen to those that tells you going to rain. They will always out number the plow." Or something like that...so I plow & eat.

And I know what you mean about the internet. But two of the paths I have taken do not replay on technology. It's just one tool. And from one of the paths I have received 22 pics & notes form 41 owners. A seemingly fun and enthusiastic bunch of owners. Of which I am proud to be one.

I Have a 1941 two door town sedan. Just finished stripping down to the frame. Next week starting frame. How does one check the shocks ? Or should I just have them redone. It would also be nice to have and adviser in the G&D for 1941 cars as they seem to skip this year. I am just getting to know the car. Glad to have the club for info.

Hello Chuck,

Your project sounds extensive. And thanks for the listing of your 1941.

I have found several ways of getting my questions answered or just learning about my 41.

1. I list my questions in the 1938-42 section of this site. Or the other sections, Paint & Body, Electrical, etc. etc.

2. I've received a lot of help by calling 1940-42-48, tech advisors in G&D.

3. Doing a search with in the tech section of this site will get you a ton of info as well. {i.e.: 1941 shocks}

4. Talking to other owners at VCCA car shows and meets.

5. Asking questions at my local regional meeting.

6. Reading Industry trade magazine, chevy manuals and other tutorials, including G&D, which at times you can purchase back issue with articles about your car from the publisher or other members.

So the help is every where, all you "gotta" do is ask.

For my quest I found the information to be so extensive and valuable I made a 1941 Note Book. First I created a "boiler plate" page in my system documents. When I find useful information {daily} I simply cut & paste that info onto the BP page. Then I print and install the page in my note book which stays in my garage. To-date I have about 130+ pages with headings such as, Ignition, Fuel, Oil Additives, Oil Filters, Fuel Filters, Shocks, Tune up, Shocks, Gear Ratio, Paint, Accessories, etc. etc. etc.

I now have a library of helpful information. I also keep all the specific details, pictures and general historyon my car in the notebook. It's sort of, "all in one place" idea. laugh

And as I am sure you have found, there are a LOT more values & benefits to the club. But the key value is with the people and their interest, openness, generosity and helpfulness.

Well best of luck with your '41 and welcome aboard,
Michael41 :) :)

Michael,

Great project.

Your comment: "But the key value is with the people" is the best comment of all.

B-T-W, have I sent you pix of our new '56 convertible?? Or told you it won "People's Choice" at a small-ish 50-60 car cruise-in at a local hamburger joint last Friday night??

Take care, Michael. Good luck with your '41 "list" project.

Yea the project is moving along fine..,just sort of a fun list.

Paul S. has a great web site and I may just ask him if I can post the list I come up with on his site {?}. But we'll see.

Have a greta weekend tooling around in that 56 Chevy..

Oh Bill, did I tell you I am making 1941 Chevy Service, Parts & Information Notebook.

See "way back" I notice the intellectual value {capitol} and knowledge that was being shared on chevchat. Specifically referencing 1941 {& other pertinent years}.

So to capture this knowledge and put if at my finger tips, I came up with a boiler plate page in my system. And a place on the page for titles such as, Ignition, Battery, Body Colors, Tires, Wheels, Suspension, Trans., Gear Ratio, Accessories, Radio, Cooling System, Oil filters, etc. etc.

Then when I read something of value on 41's {or ?} I copy & paste the questions & answers to my boiler plate page {s}. And so far I have a TON of info that has been very beneficial. laugh

So along with my new 41-pages & general chevy repair/parts books, I've learned a lot. :p

Now NOT one bit of this knowledge was because of me, It's because there are so many generous, knowledgeable and experienced members, ALL willing to share. :cool2:

The bottom line; I have over 150+ pages of 1941 info. Actually it's a book of information, pictures, facts & general comments. I'm sure lots of members have various methods of "keeping" info from the site. But my idea works for me...

Actually it's kind of funny, I brought up a "book idea" on chat way back when, and of course I had several people offer comments like, "Oh that will never fly or "that won't work", or "You'll have this or that problem." wazzup But so far, Not 1 Problem.

Now from my way of thinking if it was done correctly a "book" could be a LARGE money making process for VCCA. Oh wait, I'm wrong! you do not have to be a paying VCCA member to log on to the chat-site. But actually---- it would $till be a money making proce$$ if a "book" wa$ available.

Well that's the news about my fun book. And this was a long way to go to say "Thanks guys {& ladies} for sharing!"

Take care and drive safe because someone's looking forward to seeing you,
Michael41 :)

Hey, Michael -

You have developed massive ground work to do something that needs desperately to happen in the VCCA -

start a "1941 Owners" Chapter !!!!! Perfect opportunity!

This falls under the heading of a "non-geographic region" which is being headed up by our own Joe Smith. See his fine article in the currect (August 2006) G&D, on page 14.

You are just the guy to do it. And then I can foresee a page every other month or so in the G&D about the "41 Owners Update," or whatever you want to call it. Which will encourage others with a 1941 to join you.

Think of the possibilities - an "All '41" Tour, for instance.

This is exactly what the Board had in mind when we passed the motion to create this possibility.
