Has anyone used the gauge decals from F.S. and if so did it work good or bad? Roger

Yes......many, many, many times! The new gauge decals work out great. However, you have completely disassemble each gauge and very carefully remove the existing metal face in order to install the new decal correctly.

I refaced my gauges using the F/S kit and they came out fine. Doing the speedometer was the most challenging. All you need is lots of patience and a nice magnifying lamp.

Yep, I restore 1929-32 gauges all of the time with the Filling Station decal sets. As mentioned above, it takes a lot of patience and a magnifying glass. It also makes it easier to have a bead blaster, very small tools, a Dremel, and the biggest help is a Steward-Warner Speedometer Calibrating Machine for setting up the speedometer after it has been totally restored.

Prior to refacing it might be a good idea to be sure the gauges are functioning properly. It's a real pain to have to remove the faceplate to transfer to another gauge.

You are correct and that is the first thing I do as well before starting restoration on the gauge. I also test the gauge again when the restoration is completed. And, the vast majority of the time the speedometer needs re-calibrating after servicing and replacing the numerals.

Also make sure you have the small bolts and nuts to remount the face plate to the gauge.
