I would never install fender skirts on my 47 sedan but I have a chance to purchase a pair and also the stainless steel speed strips the mount on fenders. Are they worth getting or should I walk on by?? thanks Mel

I guess it depends on you. I guess if you can get them at a good price, are they originals or repro...I've seen them on e-bay for about 350.00 with the stainless strips...

Mel, you are asking a hard question for our members. This is a personal choice about one's pride and joy. What do you want to do with your Stylemaster? Is it a cruiser/driver? Do you want to restore it and go throught the judging process? Is the car original and you want to keep it preserved? Most Stylemasters were economy-based purchases and most buyers did not adorn them with accessories back in "the day." If you want to dress up your car with speedlines and fender skirts then more power to ya! Speedlines were only offered to Fleetline models in 1947 for your information but they look so cool on any model from that year. This is truly only your decision! Good luck!

Speed strips? Are you referring to the 18 pieces of satinless that comes on the Fleetlines?

As far as the 18 pieces of stainless go, it all depends. If they are in fair to good shape, and or you have the ability to straighten/buff/polish, etc... Depending on the amount you have to invest, they can bring good money. Very common for single pieces to bring $30, $40, or more. I personally paid $110. plus shipping to get one single used, unrestored piece I really needed. It was my experience that the rear fender pieces are the hardest to find. These were used on the Fleetlines, both 2 and 4 doors for '42, '46, '47, and '48.
Just do a E-bay search and you can get a good idea about the value of these.

Well I bought the speed strips, all 18 of them, the only one with a tiny bit of damage is the lower left rear fender strip. Looks like the bumper may have contacted it at some time, looks like an easy fix for someone who has some skill.I sort of eyed them up on my Stylemaster and I'm just not into them, MORE extra parts LOL
