On all the original vent frames Ive collected the outside is naturally more weathered and the inside sometimes looks darn nice!
Looks like I can drill out the rivets holding the pivot brakets and swapping them will give me better chrome on the outside.
Is there something Im not seeing here or is it a go?

I've never heard of anyone doing it. If it works let us know.

Isn't there a difference in the length of the chrome reach, leaving a little notch for the weather strip on the bottom on the inside? That might look a little strange or might affect the fit.

Correct there is a small differance in length there... still for a poor boy budget that doesnt include a chorme shop... seems doable... Also... far as I can tell 37-38-39 will interchange and throw in Pontiac and Olds... Chevs of the 40s is discontinued but they used to list the vent frame... https://www.chevsofthe40s.com/detail/12631/Chevrolet_FRAME_VENT_GLASS_CHROME_LOCKING.htmlAs original for 39 since it had the sliding lock... but would fit 37 and 38.
