There are a bunch of trailer manufacturers in Northern Indiana. Don't think there is much difference in the construction techniques so go look and select the one that appeals to you. Many of the factories will even let you see how they are put together and even pick it up at the factory saving transportation fee. Think you have to arrange the sale through a dealer but factory should be able to help with that.

Yes, we have made the mast jacket bushing for '29-'40 Chevys. Later years fits truck as car used a different design.

You may try ebay and Craig's list. Do the craigslistsearch engine. You choose the miles away from you the search is to explore. On ebay just click the "nearest" block. A good used one can save you many $$$$$.

Tommy Trailers and Featherlite are the very best, I think. Wells Cargo (there are several others in the WC category but I can't think of their names right now) is good also.

As to axles I do recommend tandem. As to springs or torsion, I not sure which is best for hauling a car. If you do get an enclosed trailer get it as wide as you can, about 8', and with a door on the left side so you can get in and out without having to crawl over the vehicle.

Good luck on finding a good one at a reasonable price. I recommend staying away from home-made trailers. Some are good but some are not.

Thanks chipper,
My situation is I have a good 32 car steering assy but without the mast jacket or bushing. I want to have a horn button in the stock wheel. Since the masts alone are not real common I have found that a piece of EMT electrical conduit is 1.51" OD x 1.38"ID. This ID is about 0.010 undersize so your standard bushing would be too tight. (I should buy a piece and get actual measurements before I proceed). About $10/10ft. The stock mast has a stop for the pressed in bushing so I would need to duplicate that.
What do you suggest? Keep looking for a stock one, or start building?
Thanks, Norm

There is approx. 0.040" difference in ID on stock mast jackets. The bushings have two slots so they can compress and still fit tight in the largest dia. jacket. If the bushing is still too large a little can be sanded off the outside so it will be easier to install.

I would proceed as finding a jacket might take years instead of days or months. You can measure the legs on the horn button and then set the bushing to be just a little further down the jacket. When button is pushed the legs will contact the brass ring.

I have a trailer with the side access door. I have only used it a few times (mostly to increase light or provide more ventilation) never made access to a car easier even though I specially located the door so it would match up to the door in my car. They require a step ladder to use unless you are young or athletic. Just another source of leaks. Totally useless!!!!

Paul,
I might sell the trailer. Yes it will hold a '32 Coupe. I'll think about selling and get back to you via PM.
