I just removed the cylinder head off my 1947 216.5", the cyl head is a 1950 casting #3835517, the head gasket fire ring hangs into the combustion chamber in one spot. Doesn't seem correct to me? are 216 and 235 head gaskets different? Should I get exhaust valve seats installed for todays fuel? Does anyone sell the oil line kit that goes thru the engine in the water jacket? or is it easy to make a replacement,,?thanks chevy

3835517 was sold as a replacement head for 1941-1953 216 engines (not for late 1951-53 Canadian 216).
The correct head gasket will fit 1937-1953 US 216 engines and 1937-1951 216 Canadian engines....not for late Canadian engines with the low side cover.
Exhaust valve seats are not necessary and a lead gas additive is not necessary.
You can purchase an oil line kit from the Filling Station or make one up.

Thanks Chev Nut, one more question , one of my lifters has come apart (the top insert where the push rod seats),is loose in the body ,,,, are these solid lifters available ? I'd like to use a NOS lifter if possible.

Its a solid lifter and was used from 1940-1953 with 216 engine.
Either Chevs of the '40's or the Fillng Station should have one.
