Did any 37 trucks come from the factory with heaters or were they all dealer installed.

I believe that heaters were a dealer installed accessory item.

That is what I was thinking since the factory did not even think about defroster ducts.

The first year a heater could be ordered as a factory option (and factory installed) was 1955,
The 1937 passenger car had a provision for a drivers side defroster.(blown hot air).
An eletrical heated (stick in the windshield) glass defroster and a defrosting fan was available for cars and trucks.

I have a accessory de-iceing see through glass that attaches to the windshield, driver's side, with suction cups. It has wire in it that glows red hot when turned up all the way. The control is under the dash just like the heater. The wire just flops over the dash. It is removed during the summer. Also have the dash mounted de-iceing fan with the official "GM" letters on the center of the fan guard. The heater has a "Chevrolet" oval tag on top of the heater. All this stuff came from the dealer per the original owner.

I put a aftermarket vacumn fan on the steering column a couple years ago so now its time for a heater, since I do not have defroster ducts it does not matter how high I put the heater on the firewall since I will not be putting on the defroster motor.

Did the tubes stick out into the engine compartment and the heater hoses attach out there or did the hoses come through the firewall and clamped on the inside of the cab,it looks like the tubes have been extended on my heater and wondering how it is supposed to be.

They stick threw the firewall on every one I have ever seen.

I have the vac fan on the column of my 38 but the best inside of the windshield defroster was the chamois I kept on the seat. laugh
