Was it a possibility for a Chevrolet Dealer to install a Banjo Steering Wheel on an early model 1939 Chevrolet. A 39 that would have been built in November of 1938.

I see no reason the early models could not have had it installed. From my info the wheel was available from "day one".....There are two different designs of the wheel used also. The first had a half horn ring and the late a full horn ring. The 1939 production began in Oct. of 1938. An early car may not have been sold till Spring of 1939 so if there was an accessory introduced later the owner could have had it installed at delivery time. The delivery date would be necessary - and whos to say an owner may have gone back to the dealer later in the year and have a desired item installed. As far as judging "correctness" goes, as long as the accessory was cataloged and available for that year car it would be "legal".

Does the steering mast bushing(early 39) or bearing (late 39) affect the horn button the same way as the regular wheel? Mike

There is no late and early mast jacket bearing in 1939.There is one that fits the Master 85 (is a bushing) and another for the Master Deluxe.(is a bearing)....

From what I can figure you have a Canadian parts book.
My 1939 1940,1941,1944,1948 1950,1952 --and up and up books show--
Mast jacket bearing #264887 fits 1939-48 passenger (except JB-'39 car with leaf springs),plus 1941 -'46 trucks.
The "10" and "12" would be the Canadin book tip as those were the series numbers for Canadian cars....US would be JA and JB.

Your right, it's a CDN book. Maybe GM Canada ran out of bushings and switched to bearings midstream in 38'.
