Hi there, I have finally acquired one set of sun visor brackets, the steel part attaches to the roof and solid brass forked part that attach to the visor. I am having it nickle plated and the brass polished. The slot for the visor is only big enough for a Masonite sheet to be inserted, 3/16 inch.
Q1: what is the standard size for the visor? I could make it any size, but I want to keep in in the bounds of originality! Pat S has a post where he found out that it is 15"x 4 3/4", is this a general size or just for his car?
Q2: Because the slot will only take the Masonite insert, there is no room for vynal covering of the card? So what is the covering going to be? varnish finish, painted finish or just left bare Masonite?
(Masonite in Australia is basic hardboard of the dark brown variety)

Normally they are covered in a broadcloth material(which is like a felt material, on the 39 it was the same as the headlining material) , with a edge band sewn around the outside perimeter. I could measure some 1939 visors if you can not come up with a 1935 size.

Peter Somebody needs to pop in here with a 1935 Standard. The 1933 1934 visor is a pressed paper/hardboard with a grain & pattern right in the board that measures 6" x 15-7/8". No upholstery was used on those...Joe

Hi there, thanks to all for the reply's. I remember that type of pressed material used on sun visors many years ago in England in the 60's. I wonder if anything is available these days of a similar nature? The size seems very wide and rather deep ?

The upholstery in an Australian Holden body Chevrolet does not match the US versions, as local material were used in all Holden body cars.
