You will probably have to find a used tail light assembly with good light sockets.

Place an order with The Filling Station for the led conversion. You will not regret it.

Hello rjp,
In my humble opinion, I would think that the judges do care and their scoring would reflect it, concerning non stock installations.
1. Leave stock for judging and install LEDs in trailer lights.
2. Use LEDs to and from judging, reinstall stock during judging.
3. Forget judging.
Question. Does Safety Glass fall under the a judge's deduction?

I'll vote for suggestion #3. Not sure , but I believe safety related non visible updates are not a reason for point deductions. Either way I would rather have a few points deducted than have to change out the lights or worse get hit in the rear on a poor visibility day.

Safety upgrades such as safety glass, seat belts and etc. are not deductible during judging.

State requirements for safety items are not subject to a deduction if installed in keeping with the age of the vehicle. As an example: Safety glass has been accepted without deduction but if tinted when only clear glass was available a deduction is warranted for the tint. Other safety related items such as seat belts are also not subject to a deduction if tastefully installed. One non-original safety related item is mandatory for VCCA judging - a functional fire extinguisher.

If anyone has questions about what is acceptable and not, consult the judging manual (available online and printed format). Still questions contact a member of the Judging Committee or your Area Board Member.

I bought new chromed replica taillights and am installing LED kits. I've got brand new bulb sockets with wires that I will not be using. Yours if you want them.

I just ordered a pair of LED tail light thingys for the '41. I likely will not like the looks of 'em but it is simply a safety matter.

'May be wrong but I think bulb sockets are sold by some of the parts stores.

I would be glad to take the sockets of your hands. Let me know how much I owe you or send a bill. I sent you a P.M. Thanks

My conversion to Filling Station LEDs in my '30 Sedan tail light was one of the best safety improvements I have ever made, and has gotten tons of favorable comments from club members who have followed me on tours. Bright eye-catching brake light in bright sun or dark clouds, and stands out great at night, too. You can't even tell until it lights up. Never even a mention from a judge.

I'll do the same thing to my '46 panel project before it hits the road.
