Have "another" '33 Master to decode for the experts out there. Thanks in advance for all the help, guys!!!! Here we go:

Model #105
Serial #605619
Body #342
Engine #2341444
Body Job #33 - 551
Trim #88
Paint #1311

As this is a Canadian Model; I don't expect that the decode info will be complete. No problem! Seems I remember reading that Doors interchange between various (Coach) models, even though the Part Numbers are different. (thanks Joe!). Can anybody supply Part Numbers & Dimensions for the Master Coach & Five Passenger Coupe??? Rear Side Window Moldings? (American parlance - Close Coupled Sedan or Town Sedan). Especially would like the dimensions for the rear side window garnish moldings!! Or could purchase them. Once again, thanks, EH!!!!!

Engine # 2341444 on the 1933 Data Plate - 1931 Vintage????. Did Chevy manufacture cars &/or trucks in Regina? Seems strange to have a 1931 Casting in a 1933 car - things couldn't have been that slow/bad in the depression!!! Could they? Yes. Just wonder about the reasoning here. Any ideas, theories or explanations? Thanks again.

Thanks Mike. I'll have to check out more numbers on this " '31-'33" hybrid Chevy engine & see if I can figure out what year(s) the accessories are. Should prove to be interesting, EH?

It was not unusual for any old engine to be installed during WW-II just to keep a car on the road.

The 1935 chevrolet standard series roadster I bought that came from Argentina in the late 80's had a rebuilt 1933 Chevrolet master series motor in it, since sold to a guy 200 miles north of me as a spare for his 33 master roadster.

Who knows what these people were doing and what happened to these cars, 80 years since being made

Thanks for the info/posts, guys!!! Here is what I'd like to highlight:

"Engine #2341444". 1931 Vintage Engine Number. Correct?
"Body Job #33 - 551". 1933 Vintage Coach. Correct?

This is the DATA PLATE INFORMATION contained on the firewall tag from this Master Coach.

So if I was to restore this '33 Master Coach - it would have a '31 Vintage Engine ORIGINALLY INSTALLED at the (Regina) Assembly Plant! Correct? Or am I missing something here?

Serial #605619.
Body #342.

A group of engine numbers was taken from the regular Flint series of numbers and assigned to Walkerville Ontario in January 1931. That is why Canadian engine numbers for the following two or three years appear to be 1931 numbers. The six digit casting number should correctly identify the year of your engine.

Hi d2d2, thanks for the post. (see engine, engine #9 .... further down the list here?. The casting number is: 836273. The number on the transmission is: 590532. Other numbers are: C801H1 ? & near the fuel pump area; this number corresponds to the Engine Number on the firewall Data Plate: 2341444.

Are you sure the casting number is 836273 and not 836573? The latter is a '32 engine. Besides the casting number for the '30-'31 head is 836273 so I am relatively sure that number would not also be used on a cylinder block.

My Canadian engine number book shows 1931 engine numbers from the Oshawa and Rggina plants ran from 295291-2319311.

1933 engines number from(Oshawa plant only) ran from 2333701-2348140

From David Haywards collection the 1931 Canadian (US was 836409) block casting number was 886273 (the first 8 may be a typo)
The 1933 block casting number for Canada according to Hayward were the same as US numbers.-which would be 837231.
The 1933 block has a sligtly raised square machiened pad on the lower left side of the block just behind the oil distributor valve. It has four tapped bolt holes for mounting the left motor mount bracket. A 1931 engine does not have this so a right side motor mount could not be used . There will be a loop bracket sticking out on on the frame just below this with two holes that the mount bolts to.

The cylinder head part numbers in both my USA and Canadian parts books are the same for 1929-1936 Chevys. Don't have enough Canadian parts books to cover those years well. Besides my '31 Canadian parts book only lists short blocks with pistons etc. and not bare blocks. So cannot compare numbers for them.
