Check the firewall inside the engine compartment. If it is missing you will see some small holes where it was at one time on the pass. side mid height. About (aprox.) the size of a 3x5 card like. Some states used the number stamped on the block near the fuel pump as an I.D. number for the title. Vin. numbers came out later. There is nothing on the frame.

I have a guy in Indiana wanting to buy this 34 High Cab pickup and he's concerned it has no data plate on the truck. I have a clear title in my name as the 3rd owner of truck, I guess the state of Indiana has to have proof? But would the DATA plate that would have been on firewall even had vin # of truck in 1934? Any ideas how to satisfy this guys concerns?

Can you post the numbers on the title please. The number will tell us if it was titled by the engine number or by the body serial number plate or maybe even something totally different...Joe

There is a VCCA member that can reproduce the Car No. plate for those lost, stolen, mutulated or stapled. He advertises in the classified section of the G&D. There are several others on eBay that can supply the blank plates that you can stamp with the correct letters/numbers if you know them. Page 278 of the Filling Station catalog has a bunch listed as well.

That looks like the engine serial number but someone else can make the call on this one. Some states did use that number instead of the body serial number ...Joe

Hi Kenny Joe, K4067363 would fit as a serial number for a Master Series Commercial motor with a build date of sometime in January, 1934: http://clubs.hemmings.com/chevytalk/GMhistory/1934motors.htmlSee if this number is stamped on the motor. It should be located just behind the fuel pump on the right side of the motor. Happy Motoring, Dan

The K engine number prefix is for a 1/2 ton truck engine. The larger truck used a T prefix.
