My 1955 chevy truck has some play in the steering wheel while driving, seems like i'm always working the wheel. Is there an adjustment if so where and how? It has radial tires and not bias

Hi there and welcome to Chevy Chatter. Glad to have you with us.

Regarding the play in your steering wheel, there should be detailed instructions in your shop manual for the proper adjustments of your steering box and etc.

If nothing is broken or too badly worn, it's a simple procedure. Just follow the instructions exactly. My '54 was not much fun to drive before I adjusted the steering. Now, it's a joy.

I believe that the '55 steering gear is the same as earlier trucks.

Advance Auto Parts, and probably other parts stores, will loan a pitman arm puller for free. You MUST use it.

I used a digital fish scale to measure the pull.

John Deere Corn Head grease is often recommended to lube the steering gear.

Buy a Chevrolet Truck Shop Manual and Chevrolet Factory Assembly Manual for your model year if you haven't already done so.
