Not your year model but in the way of helping an un-answered post. Both my '36 car and truck had jute pad under the mat and carpet when I removed it to restore. It is not for sure that it came that way but both were from the org. owners.

The front mat had sound deadner glued to the bottom of the mat. The rear had it glued to the floor and the carpet went over it.

If you were doing a restoration today would you use the jute padding or go with the modern foil-backed insulation? Stu

The original was a tan colored jute or burlap type of material. What you find today is the shredded rags (gray/blue color) or the foil backed stuff. If you can prevent slippage the foil backed will be great.
