I removed the engine and transmission out of my '51 sedan. I want to remove the Powerglide from the engine and I read in the service manual about removing the bolts that connect the torque converter from the flywheel. I see a number of bolts and the k tat many of them bolt the fluid coupler (Torque converter) together. How can I tell which 3 bolts to remove and not remove the ones holding the converter together?

The bolts that hold the cover on the torque converter are NOT the bolts that hold the converter to the flywheel. the flywheel to converter bolts are accessed thru the round hole just to the rear of the block drian cock. The engine must be turned over to get at each bolt. On a 1950-1952 there are 6 bolts - later 1953 and up had three.

How can I tell which bolts hold the cover on and which bolts mount the converter to the flywheel? I can see through the hole but having a hard time telling the bolts apart?
Thanks
Don

Update, I got it apart. I got a good light and started looking. The bolts that hold the cover on go through a hole in the flywheel. When I looked closer I could tell the bolts that held the torque converter to the flywheel. Thanks Gene.
