can some one tell me what the difference on a 1940 and 1941 head, will a 41 head work on a 40 block chevy

hi al no 41 will not work on 40 block 41 heads 14mm spark plug holes . i have good used heads for sale . i may have a nos i have to look kozy

al i forgot to add the compustion chambers are different kozy

The 1940 head is designed for the domed pistons used from 1937-40.The 1940 head will work on a 1941 but will result in a very low compression ratio.The 1941 head will fit on a 1940 but flat top 1941 pistons MUST be used.The domed pistons would hit the head.
also the 1940 head is lower on the left side next to the valve cover...very noticeable.Teh 1941 head is higher -more square- aand the outter left bolts are longer.This makes the head easy to spot and look incorrect.....not to mention that the 1941-48 used the 10MM peanut spark plugs.Also the 1940 valves are different.
