Can anyone out there tell me how the roof scallop on a 58 Impala hardtop (chrome trim rear center of the roof__looks like and many times mistaken for a vent)___how is it attached to the roof? I want to have mine re-plated but can't figure out how to remove it. My headliner is out and I don't see any screws. There is a steel cross member (about 6" wide) that stretches across the underside of the roof just under the scallop. If the scallop is held on with screws they would have to be between that cross member and the roof and that presents a serious problem because there's not enough space to see let alone remove the screws. That cross member is welded in I assume there for structural integrity.
