I have a "late" 1930 Special Sedan made in August 1930. Trying to keep/make it totally original. Not sure what all came along on these later models, but mine has had a "frame off" 25 years ago (circumstances resulted in a hasty reassembly), has no insulating mat(s), and I wonder if it ever did. Seem to be a few extra holes in the firewall, and I once read somewhere that late 1930's may have had insulation on the firewall and/or floor. Would be a little cooler and quieter, I suppose. Can anyone help on the mat question, and other items I should know about?
Thanks,

So, I won't add mats.
How about anything else that came along on the "late '30s"? Did any of the '31 changes, accessories, etc. find their way onto the late '30s models, or did they all wait until the actual '31s came out? I'm just trying to learn if a late '30 is any different from the earlier '30s, I guess.
Thanks.
Doug

Yes, there a differences between an early 1930 and a late 1930 due to factory changes during the 1930 model year. Some of the 1931 accessories were a retro-fit for 1930.

Thanks, JYD. Please list those differences. Can you tell me where can I go to further research this? I'll be checking my '30 carefully to verify.
On the accessories, any similar information? I do know, for instance, from the August 1930 issue of the Service News, that my paint, Color Combination #59, was first announced then. Are there similar other clues in the Service News, or where?
What accessories have you found to have been retro-fitted as you described?
This is great help, as usual!

Dan, thanks, good idea. I thought I had everything on 1930's, including the complete GM Heritage packet for 1930 Chevrolets, which was done in October 1929. However, I had never looked at the 1931 "Engineering Features" , dated September 15,1930, for info. on my late 1930. There are several good references to features added during the 1930 model year, engineering changes including ring gear, head, valve springs, etc.
However, it did not seem quite as helpful on accessories/equipment that may have become available as the 1930 model year went on, with even less info. on accessories than the 1930 booklet. Maybe there were none, but I'll bet there were more offered as the year went on. Can anyone help?
