I'd like to remove the roof scallop from my 58 Impala to have it re-plated. I thought it would be simple. WRONG! There's no headliner in the car- don't need to be concerned about that. No screws visible either. That's the problem. If there are screws they have to be above a six inch wide steel reinforcing cross member that is welded to each side of the roof. That cross member is very close to the underside of the roof. No way to even see if there are screws there.

My thoughts are to either use a hole saw to get thru the cross member and look for screws or maybe the scallop is just glued into the cavity of the roof from the outside.

Help would be greatly appreciated..........TKX

Welcome to the VCCA Chat site! You'll get an answer from one of our experts soon, and I wish I knew the answer for you.

You may want to head down to the section for 1958's, and post your question there, that way the people familiar with your car will see it.
