Well, I'm back again with this '51 5-window 3100. There were, and are, quite a few missing pieces, one of which was the inner stainless trim for the passenger door window. I have been watching for one so when one popped up, I jumped on it. However, it turned was for the earlier model with no vent window.
Not being that familiar with the 3100's, my thought was that I could trim this one to work. But on first examination, I realized that width was totally different.

Were the doors thicker for the vent windowed cabs? At any rate, I now have a nice trim piece for the earlier model and back to none for my '51.

Seems like deja vu all over again. I made the same mistake. I bought stainess door window trim for my '54 3104 thinking that all AD trucks used the same trim. The trim was from a non-vent window truck. Still have all four interior and exterior stainless pieces.

The interor window trim on 1947-1950 non-vent window doors was thinner than 1951-1955(first) vent-window doors. The method of attaching was also different. Don't know if you could modify non-vent trim to fit a vent-window truck. I believe that it was discussed on Stovebolt a while back.

The 1951 model may have been the only year that stainless interior door window trim was offered on vent-window trucks. I don't think that any supplier makes reproduction stainless interior door window trim for vent-window trucks.

Chrome plating may be an option for your interior trim. A previous owner chrome plated the interior trim on my truck, shown on the right in the pic above. It had pealed, pitted, and rusted by the time that I bought the truck. I cleaned it up, epoxy primed, and painted it interior color

Glad that I didn't install my interior or exterior stainless door trim. I learned later that stainless wasn't offered on my standard 3-window truck.

The exterior trim will fit all AD trucks.
