I have a 1940chevy master deluxe, the front hubs are riveted to the drum, if i cut the rivets off, do i re rivet them back or should i nut and bolt them. Any help would be great, i cant find any info on this,

It is not necessary to bolt them. Chevrolet quit riveting them in 1960 as the wheel studs are sufficent. You can bolt them if you wish but it is not necessary.

It's been a long time, but I drilled and tapped the hub and used round head slotted screws to hold them together; 5/16" I think. You could also go another route and screw some flat metal "nuts" on a couple of the lug bolts; don't remember what they are called, but I think they used them on the rear brake drums on some models.

I think they were called speed nuts. We called them something unprintable on a family oriented site.

Gene told you right. Don't worry about it. Just slide the drum/s on, bolt the wheel on and forget it. The drums can't possibly get past the wheel and lug nuts.

Those speed nuts are both agravating and unnecessary (as were the original rivits).
