Any advise on who manufactures the best, longest cranking, longest lasting 6v. battery out there.Does anyone use the new gel type?
I asked 5 guys at the last cruise and got 6 answers---yep,6!! I got the feeling that everyone has their own favorite, but does anyone know which have the best proven track record?

I have had a 6 volt Optima Red Top 880 CCA gell cell battery since July of 2004 and it is still going strong. I don't keep it on a tender. The car is driven every 90 days or so. It has plenty of cranking power.

Hello jay32249,
Although it is not a standard setup, two batteries wired in parallel to remain 6 volts will give you a longer cranking duration. Sealed batteries require less maintenance. Just a thought.

If you have to crank your engine that long it's time for a tune up. I have been using batteries from Tractor Supply and get from 6-7 years on average. Don't know current pricing as the last one I purchased was 5 years ago. Be sure to compare the spec's when deciding.

I have an old Interstate 6 volt that I bought over 7 years ago and it is still in nice condition. My 32 cranks right over. No tender but I keep my garage pretty warm.

Alliance...Is the make that all the shops I know of keep in stock...( 12v though ). I think that's what I have for my 6 volt, too.

I've used an Interstate in my '27 for a few years and then I transferred it to my '28 a couple of years ago. Takes a licking and keeps on ticking.

Cheers, Dean
