I'm with you Gene. It is a nice looking car but not original. They are only original once. There seems to be some confusion on the definition of original. I see many times restored original. It can't be both.

In any event, it went for a bunch of money!

Looked to me to be a cobbled up job with a 1937 radio installed, in addition to many other incorrect stuff.

I have an original '36 standard and I don't see much that is cobbled up on this one, the radio and maybe some of the accessories, but look at that original upholstery! Someone took extremely good care of the car all these years.

That dual exhaust is interesting... I'd like to know how they connected that up to the manifold. Must have drilled a hole and welded it in or installed a fitting of some kind?

That was the way we "split the manifold " back in high school. Nobody could afford those store bought fentons. In welding shop I torched a crude hole at the rear of the manifold about #5 cylinder, Then brazed a short length of exhaust tubing with a flange...from there I fabricated the dual side from used/scrap exhaust pipe from the muffler shop. The only thing I bought was a cherry bomb muffler for about $7 or 8 bucks. The Cops were always giving me a ticket for excessive noise, I'd have to take the whole thing off, have it inspected then put it back on. Oh what we did to be cool!

I've seen tom's manifold, very cool looking but i'll be keeping my stock system.
I guess its true, there's no school like the old school! Might be a fun period mod to some sort of rat rod or something. 10 Points for creativity and a high cool factor!

In the late 70's a friend cut a hole in engine pipe and fitted a sleeve controlled from by the driver that slid over the hole. If he was pulled over the sleeve quietened the exhaust and no ticket for the first few times at least. Tony
