To the right of the gauges and pull knobs I have a hole in the dash and I'm not sure what should go there. I've seen a few pictures on the web when I Google 1930 Chevy dash and it almost looks like a small metal shaft with no knob on two different pictures. Sorry to be so vague. I'm not sure how to post pictures. Thank You.

Hello mtelow, Don't know what might have been there originally. Are you able to tell if anything has ever been installed at that location, marks and paint scratches?

Not that I can tell. The truck has been restored. I do have a picture I got from the web showing the switch and location if someone could post it for me.

Hello mtelow, I'm thinking that maybe the Owners Manual might have a description of the dash controls. Have you an Owners Manual? I'm not knowledgable about posting photos either.

My 31 sedan had an aftermarket cigarette lighter in that location. Just a possibility.

It is possibly for the heater toggle switch or dash clock. Both used a hole right of the instruments that was drilled after assembly to install the accessory parts.

The above picture shows the switch on the right. I have seen this exact switch in 3 other pictures on the internet. Same location on the dash. Is this a heater switch? Any idea where I can obtain one? Thank You...

That appears to be a heater switch probably for an aftermarket hot water heater. A hot water heater was not used in 1930 since an exhaust jacket hot air heater was used instead. The 1931-32 Chevrolet accessory hot water heater could be installed in a 1930 model but that would be a retro-fit item.

Call me wacky, but I think this particular "Mystery Switch" might have something to do with the "Mystery Plug" where the ignition switch should be. Any thoughts?

I wondered about that once I saw the plug in the electrolock hole.
