I have a 1930 Chevy dash that I bought a while back and have started to sand and prime it as it is in good shape. The top of the dash is flat, but I noticed when looking at the bottom edge, the drivers side appears to crown, or bow, outward from the steering column mount to the gauge area. It does not appear to have been damaged any where and has no creases or dings.

Can anyone tell me if the contour is original?

The entire instrument panel is flat, not bowed. The contour that you describe should not be there.
