I'm trying to figure out how to access the nut that holds on the wiper transmission. Do you get to it fron under the dash or can you reach it from behind the windshield garnish. and are there any tricks I should know about putting in the new one.
Any thing will help!

This is a great site! I was about to ask the same question for my 40, as I am FINALLY going to get it repainted and am having all the chrome replated in the meantime - including the pot metal wiper transmission covers. I presume they are also detached from under the dash. Maybe not, since 40 seemed to be an "orphan" year.

The 1937-48 all use the same one bolt method of retaining the wiper transmission. If you remove the glove box the right side bolt can easily be seen. The rest is self explanatory.
