The cast iron throttle body assembly on the Rochester carb from my 1950 Chevy had developed some surface rust on both the inner and outer surfaces from sitting on the work bench for many years. It cleaned up very well when my son rebuilt the carb and I soaked the throttle body portion in some gel type rust remover. My problem is that two weeks later the rust is reforming on the metal and I am not sure what to do to prevent it. I have always had great success with spraying WD-40 on sheet metal panels that I would have the rust cleaned from to keep them clean but I know that is never going to last on the throttle body with the amount of heat that is developed(or hopefully will be developed when I get it running again). Has anybody ever been in the same situation? I don't know of any paint that will stand up to both the heat and the gas flowing through the inside of it.
