Hoping someone can enlighten me on the process to remove the kingpins on my 37 MD 2dr sedan. I have rebuiult knees on the way from Apple Hydraulics and need info on king pin removal. The repair manual mentions a special wrench to remove the steering arm, what is that all about? I think I can come up with something to remove it! Help would be appreciated Ray

I never used a special wrench. If I remember correctly you can not get on the nut with the boxed end but you can loosen the nut with a good open end wrench.

Hello Ray,
Good to hear that you still have the car.
When I replaced the king pins in my '37 MD I did not remove the steering arm in my car because I could not break it loose. I did not remove the fenders either although it would have been easier. It went relatively smoothly otherwise. I made a puller / press out of a 1/2-13 threaded rod and some modified washers to draw the bushings out and press them in. They moved easily in both directions.
