I'm ready to install my vacuum wiper motor but need help. Is there a seal or washer under the chrome nut that secures the wiper motor where it exits the body? What is the function of the beveled cast pieces on the shaft between the housing and the threads on the shaft? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Stu

I think that beveled piece goes against the w/s header on the outside as it's not flat ...Joe

Stuscar, there is a rubber washer that goes between the car body and the chrome spacer, then an internal-tooth shakeproof lock washer, and finally the nut.

So I'm missing a few parts here. Is that just a plain washer?

Pat, I used a flat piece of rubber about 1/32" or more. First, I punched a hole in it to fit around the wiper motor's shaft, then slid the spacer on, then ran the nut down finger-tight, traced around the spacer with a ballpoint pen and cut it out.

Thanks Bill. I suppose there is no chance of the motor falling back in with the windshield header trim in place.

I don't think it will fall. If needed, you should be able to hold it against the body from inside the car with one hand applying pressure against the wiper motor controls while threading the nut onto the shaft with your other hand.
