When a machinist friend refurbished the head for my '30 engine 4 years ago, he reinstalled the head using the original bolts, with a new head gasket. No sign of any problems. However, reading another post about the bolts available from FS led me to think perhaps I should replace mine. Any thoughts?
And if I replace them, is it just a matter of removing them one at a time in some sort of sequence and replacing with new ones and then doing a final torquing once the new ones are all in place. Can it be done without draining the antifreeze?

I would leave them alone....when your friend did the engine they must have been good to start with. When they are bad, they are really bad.
