I'm getting close to mounting the painted hood to the truck and can't remember
or find a part. I hope some of you may have taken em off and remember what
parts and dimensions I need. Please help.

I know the two sides slide into one another from the front or rear, but I believe I remember a small round steel rod was inside the center. It probably took up slack and keeps vibration and paint abrasion to a minimum. So, the question is what diameter and what length was the rod,.... or am I dreaming?

This is my first attempt at posting a question and I hope I'll be able to find the answer, if it ever comes. If so , thanks in advance!

Welcome to Chatter
I am not familiar with the 46 hood but I am sure someone with more suitable experience will see your posting and provide the information you require.

Hi Tony,
Either there are no replys, or I don't know where to find them.
Any tips?
Thanks, Curt

Tom Sherridan, in restoring his 1946 Chevrolet pickup, has done prolific research on the 1946 1/2 ton trucks, and he has also been extremely generous in sharing his knowledge. Check this website: http://www.46chevytruck.com/ At the bottom of the page is a link to contact Tom. I'm pretty sure he'll know exactly how the hood hinge is constructed.

My '46 half ton appears to be missing some of the hood parts, so I can't offer any specific help, sorry.
I checked the Master Parts Catalog for 1929-48. I didn't find a listing for a part for that year or model. In looking at the four hood pieces I have and the "hinge barrels" it would seem there would likely be some sort of pin.

If this is still a mystery, email me at vcca@46chevytruck.com and I'll do my best to answer with pics. It's been a while since it have been out here.

Tim.
