I have a 62 235 with solid lifters. Can they be replaced with hydraulic lifters . Thanks.

Yes, on a 1962 engine you can use either solid or hydraulic lifters..........but you MUST also use a hyd. lifter camshaft for the hyd. lifters and a solid lifter cam for solid lifters.

If you put hyd. lifters on a solid lifter cam you will get a very rough ilde. If you put solid lifters on an Hyd. cam the valve train will be very noisy.

If you set your valves with the engine runnig and completely warmed up you can adjust the intakes to .006" and the exhaust to .014" and it should be reasonably quiet unless your raocker arms have big indents worn in them where the contact the valve stem. If they do they can be resurfaced.
