was just cruising ebay usa and spotted a 1934 chevrolet master series fisher body convertable cabriolet for sale with 5 days left to run.

Car was from Urugay South America and most likely assembled on Buenos Aries Argentina GM assembly plant as right hand drive.

Basically your buying a rare body style.

Just search for it on ebay i did not write down the number.

I just copied some of the pictures and zoomed in on certain areas, mostly the rear.

It would appear that the seperate metal area between the trunk lid and the gas tank cover has been seriously altered. That metal area has been welded to the bottom of the trunk lid , making it all a one piece unit, and will make for a nightmare attempting to get it apart and restore it.

Also the gas tank cover which is a seperate item has been welded to the lower quarter panels L & R . Trying to remove the welds is going to take somebody with a lot of skill to repair it. Still have one day to run on ebay USA

Why do idiots do these things ???

As we know, that stuff is certainly "buyer beware" - particularly on off-shore stuff.

A friend bought a '36 Ford Roadster from somewhere in South America from an importer. It photographed pretty well. When he began to restore it, he found it had been turned over (how many times?) and had about 100 pounds of filler in the body. He had to make the panel between the rumble seat and the "cabin" as well as the rumble seat lid (yeah, he's good!). Had he known, he wouldn't have paid nearly as much for it.

my car "SHAZZBOTT" A 1935 CHEVROLET ROADSTER standard series also originated from south america and was brought into southern usa early 90's. Good pictures of it, reality was not so good.
The same GONG SHOW BROTHERS as worked on your friends 36 ford also managed to work on mine. Home made rumble seat lid. I have seen a lot worse, just going to take extra $$$$ to correct what they did.

I was looking at that one as well. I am not sure what his reserve was but I can tell you from experience that you might be better off paying for a car that you can inspect top to bottom. If I remember the top irons were not with this car. I have not seen a set of top irons for 1933, 1934 Chevy Cabriolets on Ebay ever. That is not to say they have not appeared but I do not remember them. If I were him I would have taken the 3500.00 or so that was offered. Over the last ten years there was a windshield frame for these cars offered on Ebay at a By it Now price of 700.00. This lasted a few hours before being purchased. I think you did well staying away from this one. I have been finding parts for my 1934 Cabriolet since the late 1970's. If I had it to do it over I would spend the same money on an older restoration that had good sheet metal, a useable folding top, and a complete windshield frame that was not broken. Chris

I sold a set of top irons for what was supposed to be a 33--34 convert or a 33--35 roadster master or std ?? Thats the way i bought them on ebay usa and thats the way i sold them about year 3/4 ago. Actually 3 months before i bought my 35 roadster.

I had given up and did not figure to be able to buy a car and within 2 months 3 of them appeared sept to november. Mine, also a blue one from maryland seller , missing a left front fender and a complete one in 2 tone greens RHD from south africa gm plant.

At least with the convertable / cabriolet body style Fisher job # 34-568 its a fisher made body and you have a better chance of finding body parts...they made 148 of them here in Canada and produced 13 left hand drive for export and 5 right hand drive for export.

I remember seeing that convert windshield frame on ebay and somebody jumped on it real fast first thing in the morning. Lots of items newly listed items with buy it nows are sold before you never even knew they were listed. you had to look at the completed listings to see it.

Just within the last 3 weeks i saw a pair of gm 6 11/16 fog lights with the mounting arms i need, put a watch on them and when i went back 12 hours later, they were sold. Somebody approached the seller and offered seller XXX $ for them. Seller put them on buy it now for $165 and they were gone.

IF i had placed the opening bid on them , seller would not have been able to create a buy it now and more than likely would have received a lot more $$$$$ on auction.

A certain kentucky seller of 33--35 chev parts puts an auction on, then somebody offers him a set amount of money , then they buy the item NOT ON EBAY .
