Need front, center, and back insert bearings std. or undersized either one will work. From what I have learned they used them on the 490's until about 1925. If you have some idea where I might find them please call me 641-680-3082.

Hi Wheelwright , welcome to chevy Chatter. I just looked in the www.fillingstation.com online catalogue , and they do not show any 1916 engine bearings. You may have to remove your existing bearings , and have them re metalled and line bored to suit your crankshaft. Another source may be Gary Wallace . Click on this blue underlined link to Gary's webpage. http://www.20schevyparts.com/

Those bearings are die cast with no secondary metal like copper or brass. They are solid babbit. You might be able to make a mold out of plaster of paris and make your own new ones. Just be sure to let the plaster sit for a few weeks to get totally dry before pouring in the molten metal. It will then have to be line bored and scraped to fit. That is how they were made at the factory but they used a metal mold to cast them in a centrifical casting machine. BTW, you can join us on the 490 page.
