Got what I think is a 58-62 vintage 235 cu in engine. Wanna take it apart and run it over to a machine shop and have them check the block out for cracks, warping whatever...verify that it's re-buildable. It's looking like the pulley on the front of the crank is pressed on? No bolts that I can find. A keyway perhaps? Can't get the front crank cap to come off the block as there are two bolts from the cap into the front motor mount that won't clear the front most lobe on the crank. It's starting to look like some evil genius designed this set-up.

Lest I be confused with a twenty-something year old car neophyte, my first car was a $25.00 1930 model A Ford coupe that I purchased at the ripe age of 16 in 1962. Been messing with old iron off and on ever since...BUT...this is my first Stovebolt. For the curious, my current heartthrob is a '50 Coupe...she's sweet. Her stock(98,000 miles on it) still purrs like a kitten especially after my recent ignition tune-up. Just looking to the future and for now avoiding the "let's put a small block in her and call it good" temptation.

For the record here are the numbers cast into the block of my "2-3-5": CON4 A260 GM19 3769716

A balancer puller is required to pull the balancer off. There is no bolt etc. holding it on.
To remove the timing cover the oil pan must be removed and the the two lower bolts accessed fron inside the engine.

Convert the 2 bolts so you don't have to pull the pan the next time you would need to pull the front cover.
