Can someone tell me why the 39' Chev business coupe trunk shelf came with a big hole in it. At first I thought some previous deranged owner of my 39' was using it as target practice for his new hole saw. But I ran into another 39' that has the same hole?

here's a pic if that helps..

The spare tires goes below the shelf and the hole in the shelf allows access to the spare tire valve stem, providing the tire is positioned correctly.
