Several years ago, I sold a '54 Canopy Express with Hydramatic to a man named Miller in Illinois.
Your post got me thinking about the truck so I found his card and gave him a call. He restored the truck and still has it.
If you would like to talk to him, PM me and I will give you his number.

Here is the truck that my Dad was talking about, I would love to see what it looks like now. I remember going for a ride and the big clunk as it would shift.

Hello,

Nice looking truck.
Must not being many Hydra-Matic canopy trucks that were made.
I had never seen one until now.

Thanks for the photo'

Oh, my. I thought my 54 Chevrolet Suburban with Hydramatic in Transport Blue (same color as the C.E. seen here) was rare. Guess not. And this is an early 54 because there's no stainless around front windshield. If I was a betting man, I bet there's a one-year-only 235 with studs through the valve cover, NOT like 54-55 first series head/valve cover. Later 54s and all 55 first series had stainless around windshield. Does this still have white grease pen marking on cowl in engine bay? Thanks, Rich

I sold the truck many years ago and it has been restored since then. It is doubtful that any original markings remain on the cowl.

I have never seen any truck of this model and may be we can find in museum or may be some people have this kind of vehicle.
