what were the differences between the "commercial truck", " 1/2 ton truck", 1 1/2 ton trucks, single or dual rear wheels engines.
Chevy literature use "heavy duty motor". were their different HP depending on the truck designation different gear ratios, ?
thanks. ron

I don't believe the engine for '36 was any different than the car engines.

If it is a 1936 truck engine the only difference is the truck had a restrictor under the carburetor to limit the power at higher revs....and save the engine.

Chevy Trucks Rule! That is true. I have both. My truck is a "Commercial" 1/2 ton. It has a restrictor below the carb. to prevent over rev. of the engine. It is in the last 1/2 of '36 so it has the new "Safety" Steel Doors and Cab. Hydraulic brakes. Also has over load springs. The Car a Standard, Town Sedan is way faster on take off. Due to it being a light car. Field test track show that it is just as fast as the competition from 0 to 60. Slightly slower from 60 to 64 MPH. Note: the Master being a heavier car is slower than the equal heavy competition.

A 1936 Standard Town Sedan weighed 2775 pounds. A 1936 1/2 ton pick-up 2700 pounds. Master Town sedan 3085 pounds.

I drove a 38 one ton for over a year as my main ride in the late 90s. It was and is stock, when I would drive my Dads 35 standard coupe it seemed like a Corvette. I am not sure this is what the original poster was asking but it always made me chuckle that a car that was not fast seemed so quick.
