Recently bought a 36 Standard and will want to rebuild the carter carb.

Any suggestions of the best rebuild kit? I understand there are better and worse kits.
Is this a straightforward process? I've never rebuilt a carb. but I'm not scared of things I've never done before. If I was I wouldn't have bought this car.

Thanks

Hi RonH
We stock carb tune up kits for the 32-49 Carter W1 carbs and also have new floats in stock. The carb on your 36 Standard may have been replaced at one time so would need the carb number or need to know if the accelerator pump has a round brass shaft with a bolt on piston or a flat steel shaft with swedged on piston. Take off the tin cover which is retained by one bolt and operate the carb. The shaft that goes down into the float bowl cover is the accelerator pump. The accelerator pump concerning the kits is the main differences. The kits that I stock are made by a reputable manufacturer here in the USA. The float needle in these kits is an aluminum needle with a flat flouroelastomer tip in the end with a concave seat machined inside the seat. These kit are made to handle todays fuels.
