does any member have some old parts catalogs that show some of the first starters and generators from the 20's (in particular Autolite, Delco Remy, etc).

cant find any on line, repair shops or even junk yards that show the parts of the 20's.

I'ed be interested in copies if someone has some and would pay for the printing costs.

would be great if it listed the Chevy year and model it was used on, Gen & Starter parts # breakdown and even some exploded views.

thanks ron

I looked through my 28 parts manual which covers all 4 cylinder models, but all they give are the individual parts for them, but nowhere does it list the entire generator or starter model #. My 28 Coupe has a 710-D STARTER. I believe there were also an entire 710 series with letters like 710C, 710B, etc. but don't remember exactly which goes with what without doing some research. The repair manual does not mention model numbers for either of them. I checked my 28 coupe GENERATOR and it has model 943B. The 20s is a broad range of years. The 1940 Parts manual just refer to 4 Cylinder models, which I can only conclude is for any/all 4 cylinder models prior to going to 6 cylinders in 1929.

Hope this helps.

RON1967;
I have a lot of old parts books that list parts for individual models and years. Almost all Auto-lite starters and generators had been replaced by Remy parts.

Generators Remy P/N 811703 Model 950A Series B & D
P/N 812585 Model 950B F,H,K,M,R

Starters Remy P/N 813397 Model 710C Series K,R,V (X?)
P/N 820233 Model 710D 1928 parts book
shows this model
replaces all 710C's

I have some more info on old Auto-lites but they get complex and too much to go into here. If you really need the info I'll take some time out and get it to you. I hope this helps.

An Auto lite "MF" starter is a 1916 to 1922 490 Chevrolet starter.
