First I need introduce myself. I live in southern Illinois. Over 65 years old and have had a lot of experience working with automobiles. Married, retired and ready to take on a new project. I have my eye on a 1939 Chevrolet coupe. Car is in rough condition's but mostly there. I am new to restoring a car of this age. The two things that concern me the most right now is there is no glass in the car and the floor needs new pans. Is this a problem? Are these parts readily available ?

In advance thank you

Charlie

Hello Chas and welcome to Chevy Chatter. You picked the right place to get answers to your Chevy restoration questions.

Your immediate concerns are easy answers.....

Glass for that '39 coupe is available from several vendors and you might even find an auto glass shop locally that could help.

Two popular vendors are:

www.fillingstation.com

www.chevsofthe40s.com

There are others as well and I'm sure you will find them.
Floor pan repair panels, as well as other sheet metal parts are available from them too.

Go for that project Chas, you'll find all the help you need right here.....and there's even more when you decide to become a VCCA member.

Enjoy the ride ok

Thanks Ken 48

Just the info I was wanting to hear. Thanks for posting and the links.

I once had a 1941 Chevy coupe but in my youth let it get away.

Haven't seen the 39 in person but have seen pictures. A few more things stand between me and this project going forward but just knowing that major parts are available is a major step forward.

Chas, Welcome!

First, I know nothing. However, 'lots of good, friendly, knowledgeable folks here. They have been very good to me.

A word of caution, if I may. Don't jump in too quickly - look around a bit. The '39 might make you an excellent project. But,
you might find a car needing a lot less work at a good price. You'll find cars priced "all over the map".

In any event, welcome and good luck.

Gaither
