I see a '31 rear window blind on eBAy. Got me to wondering why on earth these were available as an accessory? Visibility to the rear on these old girls is poor to begin with, and a blind would reduce it to zero. Maybe the prohibition days, people drinking in the rear seat or up to "hanky panky". When did they go out of style?

Correct me if I am wrong but my understanding of the function of the blinds was due to reflection of car headlights from behind. Since all of the glass was more or less mounted straight up and down in the car there was a tendency at night for the headlights from a car behind you coming in and reflecting off of the inside of the front windshield. The cotton shade material was of a loose weave to allow you to see through it a little bit and not completely block the sight.
I discovered this when driving my 28 Chevy with the origional plate glass windows one evening..
