When I restored the '48 I bought a new speedometer cable. However they only sell one length, 11" longer than the original. So the other day I dug out the original and it was about 1/2 covered in light rust. Went to my local parts store yesterday and bought this. Really had to talk myself into it as it was $32.99 plus tax. [Linked Image from pic50.picturetrail.com] The stuff looks, feels, and smells like water, really. So I put the cable in a container and poured it in. About 3:30 PM yesterday. Today, about 2:00 PM I looked at it to see what was going on. [Linked Image from pic50.picturetrail.com] Could not believe it. As you can see, the rust had turned loose. Took it out and hosed it off. That is ALL that I did. All the rust is gone. Looks like new. Says it is reuseable until it turn black.

I only wish I had found this 2 years ago. Can't say it will work for you. Just thought I'd share what it did in this situation.
