I just bought (like today) a 1936 standard basket case. I don't have time to work on it right now and need to store it outside for a couple of years before I can get to it. The doors are off and it has been partially disassembled so I'm thinking I need to cover it with some thing and put it on cinder blocks. Any advice on the best way to protect it without encouraging rust under the plastic? I can't really put it under a garage so I'm stuck with putting it in the back 40. Texas humidity and heat. Thanks, my first of many questions I'm sure. Is there a service manual some where for this car? I can at least read about fixing before I have time to actually fix it. Thanks

Just plastic is a bad idea...collects moisture...Repo manuals are kinda lousy if you want to look at the photo's...
Welcome to Chevy chat, by the way...You'll get all the answer's you'll need here...
I might have an original manual for your standard, I'll have to look...Ebay is a good place to look for a used one...unless you want a "mint" one...
You have more than one block...?

Ron As Kevin said "welcome to Chatter". As for storing your car outside, a trick an old painter told me (too late to do with mine) is to put a quick light coat of fresh finish paint (cheapest you can get) with minimal preparation (including chrome and glass edges) as a sealer. Then build a frame to keep a tapaulin from touching the body but allow 6" ventilation gap at the bottom. Tony

Thanks for the answers. I think I'm just going to build the equivalent of a tight fitting big wooden box out of plywood and 2x4's and cover the box in plastic.
That way there's some air circulation.
Kevin 47 Only one block.
Not sure if it's frozen or not. When I get the car to my house I'll squirt some penetrating oil in the cylinders and see if I can move them by hand.
Thanks for offer of the manual. I'll be happy to buy it from you if you have one.

Sorry, Ron. 1936 is one I don't appear to have...Check Ebay, though, they usually have what your looking for...In fact I was always surprised at the selection of the '30's manuals as compared to say...'46 though the late '50's...Good luck with the car...Don't forget it's there...It's something that tends to happen a lot...Good intentions, but as time moves on so does ambition...Just ask other members...

I bought a 10' x 20' Costco tent or portable garage. It appears to be well made and I can fit the frame and body inside and still work on it. It was less than the canopy guy could make just the tarps for and he sent me there. Might work for you depending on local zoning and hoa rules.

They call it a car canopy, item number 196840. I had to get them to search for it as it was not a stocked item in all stores. When I bought it it was about 220.00.
