I bought a steering wheel a while back that I thought would fit my 38 Master Business Coupe..very similar but the center section (where the horn is) is deeper or longer below the wheel itself...I see a part number 753245 or 753247 stamped in it but I can't find such a number in my parts book. Anyone know what it's for? thx. Billu38

Does the wheel have a keyed and splined center? or just keyed? '38 passenger had both and earlier wheels only the key slot.

Both keyed and splined Chipper...the bottom of the keyed and splined area on the correct one sticks out beyond the base of the wheel center section...on the "unknown" wheel the bottom of the keyed and splined area is about 1/2 inch inside or before the end of the wheel center section...otherwise the 2 wheels look the same...diameter, shape, color, etc. I'd photo it but I don't have the capability to do that....thx. Looks right to me. Not an expert on '38s as I never owned one. Maybe someone else can shed light on this problem.

The one on ebay doesn't look to me to be splined. Look at the last pic and zoom in. I'll try to get out to the garage today with the camera and take a pic & some measurements.

Tiny, picture is too dark even with Zoom....the spline is on the opposite end of the photo too....or on the front side of the wheel where the horn button is....appreciate you checking yours...my main concern is the length of the center section BELOW the spokes of the wheel...bottom side..thx..Billu38

Another tidbit I noticed...the hole spacing for the "S" wire is 1 inch for the correct one and 1-3/8 inch for the unidentified wheel...if I lay both wheels on the workbench with front of wheel down flat both wheels measure the same to the back end of the shaft bushing...?? Billu38

Tiny, if you look at the 2nd e-bay photo you can see the spline edge...and if you look at the 3rd photo you can see the "S" wire jogs outward to a bigger diameter unlike what I'm used to seeing on the Master 38??? Billu38

I've not been able to get to the garage for a few days because I've been fighting a persistent bout of Plantar Fasciitis in my right heel. I've been trying to get it to a tolerable state for the Middle West Meet next week. I'll try to get out there today. The only measurement I'll be able to provide will be the depth of the center section & maybe a pic or two of the under side since the wheel is mounted.
