Hello All,

I would like to ask a question about front end alignment. Yesterday I took my 41 SD to a local alignment shop and the guy there is pretty good on alignment and did a good job on my 46 in the past.

Anyway, after he got done with the 41 I took it out for a drive and it seemed to wander pretty bad. I had to keep the speed down to around 45. If I increased the speed, I would have to stay right on top of it (more than normal). The car has Coker Silvertown bias tires on it.

Here's the results of yesterdays alignment.

Camber: Left -0.3 Right -0.03
Caster: Left -0.3 Right 0.2
Toe Left 0.01 Right 0.05

Total toe 0.06

Any thoughts would be appreciated!!

Thanks!!

Jughead...

Thanks Tiny.

I will take these #'s to the alignment shop tomorrow and see what they think.

Did the alignment improve the steering or any of the problems you mentioned, or make things worse? Did the service technician drive the car before he did the work, and after he made the adjustments? Did you provide him any guidance on how the car should be aligned? The guidance would be in the form of showing him the car's manual which clearly covers the steps in aligning the front end.

Try doing an "Advanced Search" on the word alignment, we have discussed steering problems in past posts so you should get some good advice from them. We can then discuss this topic some more after you digest what was pointed out. Good luck, Mike

I would imagine a lot depends on where you take it for the alignment...And how knowleglable they are as to alining kingpin type cars and such...I would definetlly bring the "spec's" and discuss things with them before letting them work on it...Feel them out first...Most would love to "take a shot" on older cars, but as far as knowing what their doing could be another story...

Just re-read it...If he a good good job the last time, I would think you'd think he could handle this one, too...
