How do I get at my battery in my 1937 Master delux3e? It looks like I have to unbolt the front seat!

I assume the '37 is like my '38 with the battery box being below the floor forward of the passenger seat. There should be a spring clamped door with a handle that you pull up (give it a jerk) to remove the door and access the battery. You can see a corner of the door in the pic below.

My '37 Master has a plywood cover over the battery. There are 4 screws that hold the cover down. It is a about the same distance forward as shown in Tiny's picture and all the way against the inside of the right frame rail.

Slide the seat all the way to the rear. Then it will be easier to turn up the floor mat from the passenger side.

I would suggest that you use a protective box around the battery because a friend had a battery lost on the road to a rock (non Chevy). but on my '36 I had battery acid eat a brake line that ran near the area. So now I bought a plastic battery box, and a group 1 fits nice in the frame. It is just a thought.

I swear, the older I get the less I know! I totally forgot that the battery is on the starboard side in this packet!

I renewed my membership in the VCCA club on May 5th, no response at all.

At the top of the page you'll see a button labeled "My Stuff" with a down arrow. Click the down arrow then click "Edit Profile". That will take you to your profile. About a third of the way down you'll see an option labeled "Group Images To Display" and the VCCA logo just below that. Click the check box just below the logo, make any other changes/additions to your profile that you want and click "Submit" at the bottom.

This here started out about how to install a battery in a 1937. Just sayin...

Speaking of getting off track this takes the cake. Even though good information is being offered on how to communicate, etc.

Well, it is hind of easy to lose interest in a 37, I guess. Such a swell car. Too bad. Agrin

I agree but what are you going to do when the original poster brings up other subjects? Ignore him? suggest he start an new post? or give him an answer?

Or you can just wait until someone else brings it back around. How's this: J Franklin, where did you find a battery box that fits, I have wanted one but not found the right size (I have only looked in marine stores).

I got my battery box at a garage sale but I'm sure a battery store can find you one.

Kendall,
The main thing is..... Did you get your question answered?
