Over the past few days, different people have let me know that they either couldn't logon to Chat, or that it was very, very slow. I've been unable to observe this myself, but I don't doubt that it's happening. What I'd like to confirm is whether these problems are seen by EVERYONE at the SAME TIME? If you experience a problem in the next 2 or 3 weeks, please post a note HERE after you are able to log in. Please identify the DATE and TIME (along with timezone - PDT, CDT, EDT, etc). I've noticed that we are now receiving almost three times as many postings in a 24 hour time than a year ago. So that suggests that maybe it's time once again to UPGRADE our server... another $600 or $800 a year.... Let's see now.... that translates into 800/40 = 20 new members needed. But subtracting the cost of the G&D that probably means we need 60+ new members. Let the RECRUITING BEGIN!!

At 11:30-12:00 PM PDT 22 May 13 the situation was next to STOPPED. The longer I tried to fight it the slower it got. When I did get action it was erratic. Mouse all over the place.

Approx. 1330-1400 CDT timed out several times. Could not reply to a post until after 1400 CDT.

Was not able to get on at 12:00 PDT Thursday. Returned at 12:15 PDT Friday and able to get on and make a post.

I had difficulty logging on yesterday (thursday 5-23) at 2:36 PM (14:36) EDT with the system timing out several times. Returned an hour later and logged in without difficulty.

STATUS: I opened a trouble ticket last night with our HOSTING company. They saw the problem (thanks to Skipper for his quick notification to me) and they recommended that we upgrade our memory.
I have submitted that request to our President. FYI -- It will cost us an additional $240 a year.
I hope to have permission and the upgrade completed on Tuesday after the Memorial Day weekend.

The usual Sunday morning shenanigans were held at bay most of the morning. 11:45AM CDT I returned home and attempted to access Chat. It took several minutes for Chat to first load then page views were a bit faster but still slower than normal.

I upgraded the site just after midnight this morning - PDT.
But as of now, I still see that the additional MEMORY has not been added. I submitted a trouble ticket to the Hosting company about 30 minutes ago.
FYI -- The upgrade will increase our total memory by approximately 50%. That should cause an immediate improvement. Unfortunately, it's the middle of a three-day holiday in the USA, so things aren't worked as quickly as normal.

The Chat site MEMORY was just upgraded at 4am today (PDT). Hopefully this will help to speed up the system for us.

Both the VCCA website and Forum were not accessible approx. 1400 CDT. I would guess that the server went down.

I was able to log in around that time, but things were so slow that I thought I might have spilled some molasses on something from the derusting process I am trying!

I have not been able to get on Chevy Chatter all day. Tried numerous times and nothing. I was finally able to get on the site at about 6:10 PM PDT.

I haven't had any problems signing on. Normally I sign on around 10 pm each day.

If the VCCA has its own server who is going to do the maintenance, back up, get it rebooted when it goes down? Having 24/7 service even if it is not 100% is likely better than all volunteers.

Finally got good feedback on one of my three trouble tickets over the past weekend.
They upgraded our "virtual" server Tuesday morning. Then we got caught by another client on our "physical" server who ran away with all of the network bandwidth. My last trouble ticket finally got them to look into that and they suspended his account -- at least that's what they said.
So, consider us starting fresh again -- as of Wednesday -- with additional memory and a bad neighbor removed.
Let me know of any extended problems that you observe. Thanks.
